learning to draw

I am trying to learn to draw. The problem is that my sketches never look like the person I am trying to draw. This is my latest. I am afraid the person I was attempting to draw would never guess it was her. Any suggestions? Besides, quit drawing??

You've got a great eye. The best way to learn to draw is to keep drawing. The best book I've come across is The Natural Way to Draw: A Working Plan for Art Study (Paperback)
by Kimon Nicolaides. It is a truly wonderful and insightful book. Available at amazon.com. Good luck!

Hi. The art on your blog caught my eye. How about start drawing something else besides people? Some artists are better at some things than others. My dad draws mountain scenes, but isn't so great at people, and my daughter is great at sketching people, but not as good at painting scenes. Great job..keep up the artwork!
